Black Swan

Black Swan

Thom Yorke · 2006
Recording

Recorded during the The Eraser sessions with Nigel Godrich in late 2004 and 2005, using material Yorke had been developing since the Kid A era. The track was shaped from an extended draft that Godrich edited down for release. It appeared on Thom Yorke’s debut solo album, The Eraser, as one of the record’s key cuts and was used in the closing credits of A Scanner Darkly. The song helped define the album’s stripped, electronic solo sound away from Radiohead. Black Swan remained one of Yorke’s best-known solo tracks and was later remixed for The Eraser Rmxs. Its film placement and continued inclusion in Yorke’s catalog kept it visible beyond the album cycle.
