Recording

First Choice recorded Double Cross at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia for the 1979 album Hold Your Horses. Norman Harris wrote, produced, arranged, and played guitar on the track, with Ron Tyson as co-writer and the vocal trio of Rochelle Fleming, Annette Guest, and Debbie Martin. Double Cross was issued by Gold Mind in 1979 as a single from Hold Your Horses. It reached number 60 on Billboard's R&B chart and extended First Choice's run of Philadelphia-rooted dance records for the Salsoul and Gold Mind network. Double Cross remained a club and remix-culture favorite through later Tom Moulton, Danny Tenaglia, Eli Escobar, and Codes remixes. Its a cappella and vocal lines also made it a recurring source for later house and dance productions.
