Recording

First Choice recorded Love Having You Around for the 1977 Gold Mind album Delusions at Sigma Sound in Philadelphia. The Stevie Wonder and Syreeta Wright song was cut with the Philadelphia studio team heard across the album, including Norman Harris, Ron Kersey, Ronnie Baker, Earl Young and Bruce Hawes. The single extended First Choice's Gold Mind run after Doctor Love and reached number 68 on Billboard's R&B chart in 1977. It placed the group inside Salsoul's Philadelphia-centered dance and soul catalogue during the label's peak club years. Love Having You Around remained part of First Choice's Gold Mind catalogue through later Salsoul and SoulMusic reissues. Its presence on Delusions links the trio's vocal style to the Philadelphia studio players who shaped the label's late-1970s club sound.
