Recorded in 1980 for Loleatta Holloway’s Gold Mind album Love Sensation. Dan Hartman wrote and produced the track, with Norman Harris credited as arranger and Holloway on lead vocal; the album was cut at multiple studios including Sigma Sound Studios. The song became Holloway’s signature club record and a late-disco staple. It reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play chart, confirming her status as one of the era’s major dance vocalists. Love Sensation became one of dance music’s most heavily sampled vocal records. Its most famous afterlife came through Black Box’s Ride on Time, and its hook has echoed through house, pop, and club remixes ever since.
