Loleatta Holloway · 1976
Recording

The track was recorded at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia for The Salsoul Orchestra's Magic Journey album, with Loleatta Holloway featured on vocals. Vincent Montana Jr. produced, arranged, conducted, and recorded the session for Salsoul Records. Released as a 1977 Salsoul single, it became one of the album's key club records and reached number 3 on Billboard's disco chart. Holloway's gospel-rooted vocal placed the orchestral Salsoul sound in a more forceful soul-dance setting. The track remained a Salsoul catalogue staple and was revived prominently when Nuyorican Soul covered it with India in 1997. That later version helped carry the song into the house and Latin-dance era.
