I Love to Boogie

I Love to Boogie

T. Rex · 1976
Recording

The track was recorded during Marc Bolan late T. Rex period and issued before its inclusion on Dandy in the Underworld. Bolan wrote and produced the recording, with the band centered on his vocal and guitar performance. Released as a single in 1976, it became one of T. Rex final UK top 20 hits and showed Bolan returning to concise rock and roll forms after the group commercial peak. The single reached number 13 on the UK Singles Chart. It remains one of the best known late T. Rex singles and gained renewed cultural reach through its prominent use in Billy Elliot. The song is also tied to the legal dispute over similarities to Webb Pierce Teenage Boogie.
