The Selecter · 1979
Recording

Recorded in 1979 at Coventry’s Horizon Studios with Roger Lomas producing. The session was cut on a £1,000 budget and yielded three tracks, including the B-side "Too Much Pressure" and "Street Feeling". Released on 2 Tone Records in 1979, the single gave the Selecter their breakthrough and became their biggest UK hit. It captured the early 2 Tone moment at the point when the label’s Coventry scene was moving from cult momentum into the national charts. "On My Radio" remained the Selecter’s signature song and has stayed central to their catalog and live sets. It has also been widely covered and sampled, extending its reach well beyond the original 2 Tone era.
