The Secret Life of Us

Joey Negro · 2012

Recording

The Secret Life Of Us was recorded for Joey Negro and The Sunburst Band's fourth studio album, with Donna Gardier and Diane Charlemagne sharing lead vocals. Dave Lee led the production for the Z Records album project, using the live-band framework of The Sunburst Band. The track was the title cut of The Secret Life Of Us and became one of the album's key singles. Its later Director's Cut remixes by Frankie Knuckles and Eric Kupper drew strong DJ support and pushed the song further into the soulful-house club circuit. The Secret Life Of Us remains one of the better-known late-period Sunburst Band songs and continued to circulate through remixes and Z Records compilations. The track also preserves a notable pairing of Donna Gardier and Diane Charlemagne within Dave Lee's vocal disco-house catalogue.
