Recording

Recorded in 1976 for Parliament's album The Clones of Dr. Funkenstein, the track was produced by George Clinton and featured the collective P-Funk ensemble, including Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell and key members of Parliament and Funkadelic. The recording combined dense funk rhythms, synthesizers and ensemble vocals characteristic of the group's peak period. The track helped showcase the expanding musical sophistication of the P-Funk collective during its commercial breakthrough era. Its infectious groove and inventive arrangement made it a standout album cut among Parliament's most celebrated recordings. The recording became a popular source for hip-hop sampling, particularly its rhythm section and vocal passages. It remains a favorite among funk collectors and an enduring example of the P-Funk sound.
