Recording

Recorded for Daddy Tar’s 1990 Umbra 12-inch dancehall single, with Carl Ayton credited as producer. The release paired "Zigzawya" with companion versions and circulated in the Jamaican dancehall circuit. "Zigzawya" stood as a notable early-1990s dancehall cut and became the title track for the Umbra riddim release. It later appeared on compilations and DJ tracklists that kept the record in circulation beyond its original run. The song continued to surface in crate-digging, radio, and sample culture, including a direct sample by The Dubster on "Retreat / Zigzawya." Its continued reissues and references kept it present in underground dancehall memory.
