Evil Woman
Electric Light Orchestra · 1975Electric Light Orchestra recorded Evil Woman during the Face the Music sessions in May and June 1975 at Musicland Studios in Munich, with strings recorded at De Lane Lea Studios in London and mixing at the Record Plant in New York. Jeff Lynne wrote and produced the track, with Mack engineering the Munich sessions and Louis Clark handling string arrangements. Evil Woman was released as a single in 1975 and became one of Electric Light Orchestra's first major transatlantic hits. It reached the top ten in both the UK and the US and marked the band's move toward a more direct singles-oriented sound. Evil Woman remains one of Electric Light Orchestra's signature recordings and a regular fixture on their compilations and live repertoire. Its piano-driven hook and polished arrangement helped define the band's mid-1970s commercial breakthrough.
