The Pussycat Dolls · 2005
Recording

Produced by will.i.am and recorded during sessions for The Pussycat Dolls' debut studio album 'PCD' in 2005, the track features a guest verse from will.i.am and was co-written by him alongside Robin Antin and Ron Fair, with Nicole Scherzinger taking the lead vocal role. Released in 2006 on A&M/Interscope Records as a single from 'PCD', 'Beep' reached number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 and number three on the UK Singles Chart, extending the commercial momentum of the group's breakthrough album and showcasing will.i.am's production style — built around an electronic, hip-hop-inflected sound — as a complement to the group's pop-R&B identity. The track is remembered as one of the defining will.i.am production collaborations of the mid-2000s and an example of the commercially successful meeting point between hip-hop production and mainstream pop-R&B that characterised his work across the decade; it remains one of The Pussycat Dolls' most recognisable singles from their commercial peak period.
