Wave Jumper
Drexciya · 1995The track was recorded at Black Planet Studios in Detroit on a Tascam four-track for Underground Resistance's Aquatic Invasion twelve-inch. Drexciya produced the record for Underground Resistance, with the project centered on James Stinson and Gerald Donald's anonymous Detroit studio partnership. Released in 1995 on Underground Resistance, the track became the lead cut on Aquatic Invasion and deepened Drexciya's underwater mythology through its label text and sound design. It arrived during the group's core 1990s run and helped define their stark, concept-heavy Detroit output. The track remained one of Drexciya's defining recordings and was selected for the 1997 compilation The Quest. Later Clone reissues, including Journey of the Deep Sea Dweller and the Black Sea / Wavejumper Aqualung version, kept it central to the group's catalogue.
