The recording developed from spare studio time when arranger Michael Melvoin supplied chords that Bobo worked with for twenty minutes. Stan Silverberg produced the session, and Capitol released the single in 1976. It was Bobo's first Capitol release. Cash Box praised the arrangement, highlighting the horns and backing vocals that strengthened the performance. Later compilations, including Blue Juice Volume 2 and Blue Note Trip 8, introduced the recording to new listeners. It has continued to receive specialist radio exposure.
