I Can't Dance With You

"I Can't Dance With You" was recorded for The Fantastics!' 2009 album Mighty Righteous, with the group's core line-up of Greg Boraman on Hammond and electric piano, Pete Collison on guitar, Ray Hunter on bass and Mark Norton on saxophone and flute. Noel McKoy supplied the lead vocal on the band's reinterpretation of the Small Faces song. The track was one of the vocal highlights of Mighty Righteous and demonstrated the band's move beyond the tightly defined deep-funk revival sound of their earlier work. The album received strong support from DJs including Mark Lamarr and Craig Charles. The recording later generated remixes by Lack of Afro and Sleeve, extending its life in funk and soul DJ sets. Mighty Righteous remained a key early release in The Fantastics!' catalogue and established their relationship with Freestyle Records.
