Baby I Got That
Bondax · 2012Remixed by San Francisco-based Dirtybird Records affiliate Justin Martin from the original track produced by Lancaster teenage duo Adam Kaye and George Townsend, who were eighteen and nineteen years old respectively at the time of release. The original "Baby I Got That" was released on Bondax's own Just Us Recordings label, with the Justin Martin remix first circulating in August 2012 before receiving a commercial release through Ultra Records in 2013. The remix recontextualised an already buzzing track from one of the UK's most hyped young production duos, bridging the gap between Bondax's UK-centric future-garage sound and the US West Coast house scene centred on Dirtybird. The track received support from BBC Radio 1 DJs Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw and circulated widely in the blog-house ecosystem of 2012. The track remains representative of the early-2010s moment when teenage UK bedroom producers like Bondax, Disclosure, and Karma Kid were crossing over between electronic subgenres, with the Justin Martin remix serving as an early example of transatlantic cross-pollination between the UK deep house revival and San Francisco's bass-house community.
