What I Might Do

Ben Pearce · 2012
Recording

Produced by Manchester-based DJ and producer Ben Pearce, the track was built around a chopped soul vocal and developed during the early-2010s resurgence of underground house music in the UK. It was issued as a single on MTA Records and quickly gained support from club DJs and radio tastemakers. Released in 2012, the record became an unexpected crossover success, bringing deep house aesthetics into the UK mainstream. It helped establish Ben Pearce internationally and became one of the defining British house records of the decade. The track remains a staple of modern house music and is frequently cited as a landmark release in the early-2010s deep house revival. Its vocal hook and stripped-back groove influenced a wave of commercially successful UK house productions that followed.
