Recording

Cunnie Williams recorded Saturday with Monie Love for the Star Hotel album, with Mousse T credited as producer and programmer on the main version and remixes. The single was issued by Peppermint Jam in 1998 before wider 1999 European releases through Urban, Motor, and Universal-linked labels. Released in 1998, the single became Williams's best-known crossover record after Mousse T's house mixes brought it into European club and radio circulation. It reached number 35 in France and number 24 in Italy. The track remains Williams's signature single and one of the best-known Peppermint Jam vocal-house releases of the late 1990s. Its use of Oliver Cheatham's Saturday Night song and later 2009 remix package kept it active in club catalogues.
