Every Picture Tells a Story

Every Picture Tells a Story

Rod Stewart · 1971
Recording

The track was recorded for Every Picture Tells a Story with Rod Stewart joined by musicians including Ronnie Wood, Micky Waller, Pete Sears, Ian McLagan and Maggie Bell. The album was recorded mainly at Morgan Studios in London with Stewart producing. Released on Every Picture Tells a Story in 1971, it opened the album that made Stewart a major solo star. The song became one of the defining performances on a record that reached number 1 in both the United Kingdom and the United States. It remains one of Stewart most celebrated early solo recordings and a signature example of his loose band driven sound. The track has endured through compilations, classic rock radio and continued reassessment of his early 1970s catalogue.
