I'll Kick A Brick (About My Man)
Hot Sauce · 1971Recording
Hot Sauce cut the single for Volt in 1971 as part of the group’s Memphis-era Stax work. Ace’s liner-note summary places the recordings at Royal Studios in Memphis, with additional sweetening done in Detroit. The track introduced Hot Sauce on Volt and became one of the group’s early Stax-era sides. Contemporary trade coverage singled it out for soul radio attention, while later reissues framed it as part of a small but highly regarded catalog. It remains a cult Southern soul title and has been kept alive through Stax and Ace compilations such as The Complete Stax/Volt Soul Singles and Good Woman Turning Bad. Later listeners and collectors continue to cite it as one of Hot Sauce’s signature recordings.
