The Bees · 2001
Recording

The track was recorded in 2001 for Sunshine Hit Me by the Bees founding duo Paul Butler and Aaron Fletcher. They wrote, performed, recorded and produced the album in Butler parents garden studio on the Isle of Wight, known as The Shed. Released as a single in 2001 and later included on Sunshine Hit Me, it introduced the Bees eclectic early sound before the album Mercury Prize nomination. The single reached number 118 on the UK Singles Chart. It remains a key early Bees recording and the opening track from Sunshine Hit Me. The song continues to represent the band homemade Isle of Wight debut period and its mix of acoustic playing, programmed rhythm and offbeat studio texture.
