Freak Power cut the track during the sessions for its debut album Drive-Thru Booty in London, with Norman Cook producing and Simon Thornton engineering. Ashley Slater provided the lead vocal that became the song’s signature performance. Released in 1993, it introduced Freak Power’s polished acid-jazz dance sound and became the group’s breakthrough single in the UK. A 1995 reissue, driven by its use in a Levi’s campaign, pushed it to the top tier of the singles chart. The song remained Freak Power’s best-known recording and the one most closely associated with Norman Cook before his Fatboy Slim era. Its later commercial life through advertising kept it in circulation well beyond its original release.
