Stretchin' Out
Gayle Adams · 1980Recording
"Stretchin' Out" was recorded and mixed at Bias Studios in Falls Church, Virginia for Gayle Adams's self-titled debut album. Rodney Brown and Willie Lester wrote and produced the track, Lester arranged it, and Bob Dawson shared the album's mixing duties with Brown and Lester. Released in 1980, the track became one of Adams's principal early records and received substantial American club play, appearing prominently on Billboard's regional Disco Action lists. It also reached number 64 on the UK Singles Chart. "Stretchin' Out" became one of the most enduring recordings from Adams's Prelude period and a recurring selection on retrospective disco collections. Its extended versions have remained particularly valued in DJ and collector culture.
