I Don't Wanna Lose It

I Don't Wanna Lose It

Bambu · 1979
Recording

The single was recorded for Zebra Records in 1979, with Jorge Barreiro and Morty Craft producing. Wayne Cooper arranged the track, Tony Smith mixed it, and the original twelve-inch paired the full-length vocal with Jorge's Theme. Released in the United States in 1979, the record became a specialist club twelve-inch rather than a national pop or dance-chart hit. Its connection to Wayne Cooper and the Zebra label placed it within the late-1970s New York disco-production circuit. The track remained a collector favourite among disco and boogie DJs, with the instrumental Jorge's Theme also valued by club selectors. Its later appearance on Dimitri From Paris's Disco Fever compilation helped preserve its profile in rare-disco culture.
