Recorded in 1977–78 at Blank Tape Studios in New York, with Patrick Adams producing and musicians including Rich Tannenbaum on drums, Ken Mazur on guitar, and Norbert Sloley on bass. The single was issued as the flip side to "In the Bush." The track became a club hit and reached No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Disco Songs chart as part of the "In the Bush"/"Keep On Jumpin'" double-side. It also crossed into the soul market, peaking at No. 81 on Billboard's Hot Soul Songs chart. "Keep On Jumpin'" endured as a disco standard and was later revived by numerous remixes and covers. Its chorus and groove fed later dance records, including the 1990s club hit by Todd Terry, Martha Wash, and Jocelyn Brown.
