Work Song

Pat Lundy · 1977
Recording

The track was recorded for Pyramid Records with Buddy Scott producing Pat Lundy's 1977 single version of Nat Adderley and Oscar Brown Jr.'s composition. Pyramid issued it as Work Song backed with Put a Little Love Back, with seven-inch and twelve-inch formats servicing club play. Released in 1977, the single reached number 17 on the U.S. dance chart. It gave Lundy one of her strongest club records after her earlier soul and R&B releases on Columbia, RCA, and other labels. The track remained visible through rare-disco and funk collecting and was later documented by WhoSampled as both a cover source and a sampled recording. Its extended groove also returned through later digital and re-edit releases.
