Dude (feat. Ms. Thing & Shawnna) [Remix]

Dude (feat. Ms. Thing & Shawnna) [Remix]

Beenie Man · 2004
Recording

The remix grew out of Dave Kelly’s Fiesta riddim sessions in Kingston, Jamaica, with Beenie Man and Ms. Thing on the original cut and Shawnna added for the crossover remix. It was associated with Madhouse Records and the Boxx Studio base used by Kelly’s production camp. The track became Beenie Man’s breakout U.S. record and one of dancehall’s most visible early-2000s crossover hits. The Shawnna remix drove the song’s club and radio presence outside Jamaica. It remained Beenie Man’s highest-profile American hit and a defining example of dancehall crossing into mainstream pop and hip-hop. The remix version with Shawnna is the one most widely remembered and referenced.
