Rabbit Heart

Recorded at The Pool in London during sessions for Lungs, with Florence Welch working with co-writer and producer Paul Epworth. Mark Rankin recorded the track, Tom Monger played harp, and Cenzo Townshend mixed the single. Released by Island and Moshi Moshi in 2009, Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up) became Florence + The Machine's first UK Top 20 single. Its success helped carry Lungs into mainstream attention during the band's breakthrough year. The track remains one of the defining early Florence + The Machine singles and a central example of the dramatic sound of Lungs. Its acknowledged use of elements from Gang Gang Dance's House Jam also made it part of a documented publishing dispute.
