The Return

The Return

Shabba Ranks · 1998
Recording

Recorded in Jamaica during Shabba Ranks’ late-1990s sessions with King Jammy. The material came from Jammy’s Waterhouse production circle, with Jammy steering the release. The track marked Shabba Ranks’ return to Jamaica-recorded dancehall after his major-label peak. It carried the rough, direct style that defined his early reputation and late-1990s revival material. It remains part of the catalog that documents Shabba Ranks’ link to King Jammy’s digital dancehall era. The song also keeps circulating on reggae reissue compilations and specialist playlists.
