The track was cut for Shabba Ranks’s 1991 Epic album As Raw as Ever and was produced by Cleveland “Clevie” Browne and Wycliffe “Steely” Johnson. The release also credits Shabba Ranks on vocals, with the song built around the Steely & Clevie production team’s dancehall framework. Released as a 1991 Epic single, the song became a UK chart entry and helped carry Shabba Ranks’s dancehall sound into the mainstream singles market. It peaked at No. 63 on the Official Singles Chart and spent two weeks on the chart. The track has continued to circulate in dancehall and reggae retrospectives, and it was sampled by Funky Tribalists on “Chitter Chatter” in 1993. Its enduring recognition also comes from its continued presence on Shabba Ranks compilations and streaming catalogues.
