Recorded between June 1998 and March 1999 during the A Musical Massacre sessions at Chung King Studios, Soho Music Studios, and Planet Sound Studios in New York. JuJu and Psycho Les produced and performed the track as The Beatnuts, with Yellaklaw on the chorus. Released in 1999 as the first single from A Musical Massacre, it became The Beatnuts' most successful pop-charting single. Its Latin-sourced beat helped push the duo's production style into wider club and radio circulation. The track remains The Beatnuts' signature single and later became central to public discussion of Jennifer Lopez's Jenny from the Block using the same Hi-Jack source. Its hook and beat have kept it prominent on Beatnuts compilations and late-1990s rap retrospectives.
