Sugar Is Sweeter

Recorded by Renegade Soundwave for their 1989 Mute release era, with Flood co-producing the session. The track was issued as the AA-side of the 12-inch single with "The Phantom (It's In There)". The track helped define Renegade Soundwave’s early reputation on the UK dance underground and became the stronger club-side of the pairing with "Probably a Robbery." It drew on breakbeat sampling and a cinematic vocal fragment from The Warriors. "Ozone Breakdown" remained one of Renegade Soundwave’s best-known tracks and was later revisited on compilations and remixes. Its sample-heavy construction made it an influence point for later breakbeat and big-beat producers.
