Washing Machine
Mr. Fingers · 1986Recording
Larry Heard created Washing Machine in Chicago during his earliest solo experiments in 1984, alongside Mystery of Love. He recorded its synthesizer arpeggios while manipulating the sound controls live. The recording circulated on tape in Chicago clubs for approximately a year before its 1986 Trax release, establishing an audience before it reached vinyl. Its restless synthesizer patterns became a defining early example of Heard’s experimental approach. The Vinyl Factory later selected its original three-track release among his essential records.
