I Really Love You

Issued in the UK as a promo-only 7-inch on Top Dog [Soul] on 17 July 1999, this release pairs Jimmy Burns with a Northern Soul revival reissue of the track. The 45cat listing credits Clarence Johnson as producer and gives the composer as R. Newsome. The record was distributed as a freebie to attendees at the Stafford “Top Of The World” revival allnighter, which placed it squarely in the Northern Soul revival circuit. It kept a Jimmy Burns favorite in circulation for a new generation of dancers and collectors. The song remained a recurring Northern Soul staple, with later reissues and a 2012 Inferno 7-inch helping keep it in print. Jimmy Burns also later re-recorded the song, extending its life beyond the original 1999 promo issue.
