Backfired

Masters at Work · 2001
Recording

Backfired was produced by Masters at Work's Kenny Dope and Louie Vega with India on lead and background vocals. The release credits Steven Barkan and Dave Darlington as recording engineers, with Rick Essig credited for mastering. The single followed Masters at Work's Our Time Is Coming album and reunited the duo with India, one of their signature vocal collaborators. Its UK release on suSU reached the Official Singles Chart and became a prominent club single through the Joey Negro mixes. Backfired remained part of the Masters at Work catalogue through later digital reissues and retrospective compilations. It continued the duo's long-running vocal partnership with India after I Can't Get No Sleep and To Be in Love.
