Recording

Recorded during the Think Tank sessions in 2002, with Blur working in Marrakesh, Morocco and later in Devon. The track featured orchestral contributions from Groupe Regional du Marrakech and production by the band with Ben Hillier. Released as the lead single from Think Tank, it introduced Blur’s post-Graham Coxon era and marked a noticeable shift toward Moroccan and orchestral textures. It reached the UK Top 5 and became one of the album’s defining songs. The song remains one of Blur’s best-known later singles and a touchstone for the band’s world-music-inflected period. Its video and arrangement kept it in circulation well beyond the album cycle.
