Haven't You Heard
Patrice Rushen · 1979Recording
Recorded in 1979 at Conway Studios in Hollywood for her album Pizzazz, the single was produced by Patrice Rushen with Charles Mims Jr. and Reggie Andrews. Released as the lead single from Pizzazz, it became Patrice Rushen’s first international hit and reached No. 42 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also crossed over strongly on the R&B and disco charts, helping define her commercial breakthrough. The song remained one of Rushen’s signature recordings and was later sampled in Kirk Franklin’s "Looking for You" and Zhané’s "Groove Thang." Its chorus and groove kept it circulating in dance, R&B, and sample-driven pop contexts.
