Sandman
The Undisputed Truth · 1979Recording
Recorded for The Undisputed Truth’s 1979 album Smokin' at Fort Knox Recording Studio in Los Angeles, California. The track was written by Miles Gregory and produced by Norman Whitfield for Whitfield Records. "Sandman" appeared on Smokin', the group’s 1979 Whitfield comeback album after several years away from the label’s spotlight. The song stood out on the LP as a Miles Gregory composition amid Norman Whitfield originals, and contemporary coverage singled it out as one of the album’s best cuts. The track later reached a new audience through the 1990s house record "Sandman" by Blue Boy, which sampled The Undisputed Truth’s original. That sampling gave the song a second life beyond its initial album appearance.
