Puppet On A String

Puppet On A String

Lynn Taitt & the Jets · 1967
Recording

Recorded in Jamaica in the late 1960s as a rocksteady studio instrumental by Lynn Taitt and the Jets, with Taitt’s guitar carrying the melody. The track circulated as part of the Federal/Merritone rocksteady catalog and later appeared on the Sounds Rock Steady set. The track captured Lynn Taitt’s role in defining the rocksteady guitar sound at the height of the style’s first wave. It stood as one of the instrumental showcases from the Federal era, when the Jets were among Jamaica’s busiest studio bands. The song remains a touchstone for rocksteady instrumentalists and collectors, preserved on later reissues and anthology sets. It continues to be cited as part of the foundational Lynn Taitt catalogue that shaped the transition from ska to rocksteady.
