Recording

Recorded in 1967 at Jamaica Recording Studio in Kingston, Jamaica, by Sound Dimension, the Studio One house band. It was produced by Clement "Coxsone" Dodd. Released as a 1968 Studio One single, it became one of the foundational instrumental tracks in Jamaican music. It is widely described as a classic riddim and an enduring Studio One signature. It became one of reggae’s most versioned riddims, later sampled and adapted by many artists across reggae and beyond. Its bassline and organ figure remained a core reference point for later Jamaican recordings and international borrowings.
