Heavy Rock

The track was recorded at Studio One by Sound Dimension, the studio band associated with Clement “Coxsone” Dodd’s Brentford Road operation. The original Jamaican 7-inch paired “Heavy Rock” with “Heavy Dub” on Coxsone Records. The record became one of Studio One’s major instrumental rhythm sides and later appeared on Soul Jazz Records’ Studio One Scorcher set. Its hard, reusable rhythm made it a foundation tune for later Jamaican versioning. The track remains a Studio One instrumental standard and has been reissued on 7-inch and 12-inch editions. It is still valued as a core Sound Dimension rhythm in reggae and dub collecting circles.
