Let Me Blow Ya Mind

Let Me Blow Ya Mind

Eve · 1995
Recording

Produced by Dr. Dre and recorded during sessions for Eve's second studio album 'Scorpion' in 2001, the track features guest vocals from Gwen Stefani and was engineered at Record One Studios in Sherman Oaks, California, with mixing by Dr. Dre. Released in 2001 on Interscope Records, 'Let Me Blow Ya Mind' became Eve's biggest commercial hit, reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning the inaugural Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration in 2002; the track's pairing of Eve's hard-edged rap delivery with Stefani's melodic hook was widely praised as one of the most effective hip-hop and pop crossover collaborations of the era. The Grammy win cemented both Eve's position as one of the foremost female MCs of her generation and foreshadowed Gwen Stefani's subsequent solo crossover success; the track remains a defining example of early 2000s rap-pop collaboration and Dr. Dre's production range beyond his core gangsta rap work.
