Music Is My Way of Life

Patti LaBelle recorded Music Is My Way of Life for her 1979 Epic album It's Alright with Me. Skip Scarborough produced the track, Marti Sharron and Gerald Lee wrote it, and John Luongo created the extended disco mix issued on the 12-inch single. Music Is My Way of Life became the standout dance single from It's Alright with Me. It reached number 10 on the U.S. dance chart and number 81 on the U.S. R&B chart in 1979. The track remained one of LaBelle's best-regarded dance recordings and was later highlighted in disco reissue and remix culture. Later sample use and The Experiment's 1999 cover kept the song active in club-oriented catalog circulation.
