Rapture (Special Disco Mix)
Blondie · 1981Recording
Recorded in 1980 at Power Station Studios in Hell's Kitchen, New York, and United Western Recorders in Hollywood. Blondie’s core lineup performed the track, with Mike Chapman producing and remixing, and Lenise Bent engineering. Issued in 1981, the Special Disco Mix presented Blondie’s club-friendly rewrite of "Rapture" as a long-format single. It became a major UK hit and fixed the song as one of the band’s most visible crossover records. "Rapture" remained Blondie’s defining bridge between new wave, disco, and rap, and the Special Disco Mix kept the extended club version in circulation on later reissues and remix compilations. The track’s rap section helped make the song a lasting reference point in pop and hip-hop history.
