Foxxy Original
Cassius · 1996Cassius issued “Foxxy” in 1996 as its first self-released house track, written and recorded by Philippe Zdar and Boom Bass under their Cassius name. The record was later folded into the duo’s 1999 album cycle, and the album’s documentation ties “Foxxy” to the Cassius remix of the track and to the pair’s original writing credits. At release, the track marked the duo’s breakthrough into French house, with its moderate success helping establish Cassius and leading to remix work for artists such as Air and Daft Punk. It also became one of the signature tracks associated with the duo’s early run and later appeared in the promotional and album era of 1999. “Foxxy” remains notable as Cassius’s first house statement and as an early marker of the French house era. It continues to circulate in later reissues, digital store listings, and sample/remix references, keeping it present in the duo’s catalog long after its original 1996 release.
