Don't You Want My Love

Produced by Kenny Dixon Jr. as Moodymann, the recording appeared on Forevernevermore in 2000. It combines samples from the Crusaders’ “Spiral” with lead vocals by D. Welch and backing vocals and saxophone by Norma Jean Bell. The track exemplified Moodymann’s approach of combining sampled recordings with contributions from Detroit musicians. Its extended single version developed the arrangement into a club-focused counterpart to the album recording. It became one of Moodymann’s signature dance-floor records, with repeated Peacefrog represses sustaining its availability. GQ later named it among the classics that established his reputation.
