Recording

Recorded in 2000 as Modjo’s debut single, with Romain Tranchart and Yann Destagnol producing and Hervé Bordes engineering. The track is built around a sample of Chic’s “Soup for One.” The single broke out immediately in the UK, where it reached No. 1 on the Official Singles Chart and stayed on the chart for 26 weeks. Its dance-floor appeal made it a defining house hit of 2000. It remains an enduring club standard and has been sampled by dozens of later records, keeping it in circulation well beyond its original run. The song’s continued presence in dance music culture has made it one of Modjo’s signature recordings.
