Recording

Recorded on October 10, 1969 at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, with a quintet featuring Julian Priester on trombone, George Coleman on tenor saxophone, Harold Mabern on piano, Walter Booker on bass, and Mickey Roker on drums. The track was recorded during a late-period session that remained unissued for nearly a decade, eventually surfacing on the 1978 double LP edition of The Procrastinator as part of Blue Note's effort to release vaulted Morgan material following his 1972 death. As one of Morgan's final studio recordings, the track documents the harder, funkier direction his music was taking in 1969, and it gained wider exposure through the 2003 CD reissue of Sonic Boom, which brought the session to a new generation of listeners.
