The Ballad of Queen Bee and Baby Duck

Eagles of Death Metal recorded “The Ballad of Queen Bee and Baby Duck” for Death by Sexy, the band’s second album. Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme wrote the song, Homme produced the recording, and Brody Dalle, Liam Lynch and Wendy Rae Fowler contributed backing vocals. Released by Downtown and Rekords Rekords in 2006 on Death by Sexy, it showed the album’s campier and more theatrical side alongside its garage-rock and boogie-driven singles. Contemporary reviews described it as one of the record’s stranger swamp-lullaby moments within the band’s playful rock pastiche. The track remains a distinctive deep cut from Eagles of Death Metal’s Death by Sexy period. Its oddball tone and guest-vocal ensemble keep it tied to the looser, humorous character of the band’s mid-2000s work.
