Recording

Kim Marsh recorded Main Thing as the featured vocalist on Shot's 1986 12-inch single. Roger Wolfie Williams wrote and produced the record, with the U.S. Easy Street issue mastered by José Rodriguez at Sterling Sound. Main Thing was released in 1986 on Easy Street Records in the United States and Affair Record Company in the United Kingdom. The record became a specialist garage and boogie club title rather than a mainstream singles-chart hit. Main Thing remained a collector favorite through its 2019 remastered reissue and later digital editions. Its slow, vocal-led groove kept it in circulation among rare-groove, boogie, and modern disco selectors.
